Today at Jubilee church we had to cope with unplanned change. Sickness has struck our small fellowship, stretching our resources slightly. June was not there to serve us with tea and coffee! She was away with flu like symptoms which she was careful not to share with us! But the tea and coffee got served on time to everyone who wanted it. Yes, in times of need talent will come to the fore.
And there were more changes in store. Sam led our worship this morning and the keyboard player and projectionist changed places. The profuse apologies from the projectionist for getting caught up in the Spirit and neglecting to advance the lyrics were accepted by all as part of our learning curve. If we learned the words we would not need the projection at all!
The projectionist, Mark, then became our teacher/preacher this morning, reviewing our progress in the letter to the Philippians and then bringing forward teaching on humility from Chapter 2 vv 5-12. He left us to question “What are you like?” Do we model the example of Jesus? What a thing to aspire to.
We were pleased to have Mark's Mum, Vera, with us this morning and enjoyed her contribution and company.
We have not lost our excitement at all of us being able and willing to contribute to our time together. “When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.” 1 Cor 14:26
