We want to be a group who live according to the New Testament values of the early Christian church and one of the values they had was sharing. (Acts 4 v 32).
Last Sunday was one of sharing from start to finish. Of course we share the load of setting up the room and getting a cup of coffee for all who come as they arrive. Then we had a time of worship where Mark led us into centering on the Father's love for us. Sam shared in the singing at the mic. We then moved into a time of Communion sharing the bread and wine as Jesus taught us. Everyone had the opportunity to share what these meant to them. Peter gave a talk about Paul's letter to the Philippian church, this week highlighting how God used Paul's imprisonment to encourage others to share the gospel and to encourage us to look at life with a heavenly viewpoint.
We then shared lunch together. It was good to be together in this way and share baked potatoes, chilli, salads and fruit. We liked it so much that we decided it would be good to do it on the first Sunday each month.
Our sharing spills over into the week. On Monday a group of ladies shared lunch, weighed themselves and decided to share encouragement to lose some weight! They also started a study programme called “A journey with friends” getting 7 verses through the letter to the Philippians.
On Tuesday evening we again ate together, this time in the evening. Enchiladas and salad with baked potatoes and fruit salad again! We are keeping up our healthy eating. This time June shared her thoughts from Paul's second prayer to the Ephesians in chapter 3 and we all contributed to the discussion.
I hope we continue to share the goodness of God together.
